I’m an artist and designer who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area
We live in continuous interchange with the world surrounding our bodies: inhaling, ingesting, excreting. When we pick up a knife and fork to eat they become an extension of the body, expanding its boundaries. Lived body experience and how the boundaries of the body extend into the world have been an ongoing focus in my creative practice.
My current body of work, ‘Entanglement’ blends ecology and corporeality to subvert the western landscape tradition. In these manipulated canvases I explore the wild as an extended bodily field, examining land as expression and extension of self and culture. My work is grounded in integration and reciprocity, questioning ingrained cultural beliefs of separation from nature.
The forms, colors and textures emerge from immersive experiences in wild remote places, where I creates field sketches and document impressions using photographs, video and drawings. These are synthesized into abstract sculptures and installations that articulate the lived experience of being in relationship with the wild.
